We were to mimic a stanza by Yeats called The Lake Isle Of Innisfree, and she had asked to think of our own peaceful vacation. So, she gave us fifteen full minutes to think of something, then come back to the classroom. Even though it was a nice day outside, I had spent most of my time looking for my sister. It only took me five minutes to write my stanza and head back to the classroom. However, when she had asked everyone to share they used the beach, the mountains, different cities, etc.
What did I write about?
I wrote that I wasn’t sure about where my “Innisfree” was and that at least I was seeking it.
She responds by saying, “Wow, what’s wrong with this generation?”
On top of the fact that I didn’t even want to share, she had said that. I really am never going to participate again after that low blow. On the positive side, she did compliment me on my overall stanza. Yay.
